The idea of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 would be to gather and recreate the third and fourth games in the series, released in 20. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was a single game remake of the classic games Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 from 1999 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 from 2000, which features professional skateboarder Tony Hawk as the protagonist. It is unknown at what point Activision was actually with this remake, nor which studios may have been approached by the company to develop the potential game that never happened. Ultimately, the Vicarious studio as it was previously known ceased to exist.Īccording to Tony Hawk, Activision even sought help from other developers, but none that the company “trusted” to deliver the development of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 as it trusted Vicarious. In January 2023, shortly after the release of THPS 1+2, Activision announced that there would be a merger between the studio and Blizzard, and this would also entail a name change.
However, Activision made major changes that ended up spelling the end of the road for the studio. Vicarious, which Hawk cites, is Vicarious Visions, a studio that made several licensed games and contributed to the games in the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series.
